Militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to give an order for the immediate withdrawal of the military from his town – Gbaramatu kingdom. Gbaramatu kingdom, with headquarters atOporoza, in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, had been raided by military since the resumption of militancy by the acclaimed Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), which had added to the economic debacle of an already bleeding nation. The current fuel scarcity and supply difficulties in the country. 2. The exorbitant prices being paid by Nigerians for the product. These prices range on the average from N150 to N250 per litre currently. 3. The meeting also noted that the main reason for the current problem is the inability of importers of petroleum products to source foreign exchange at the official rate due to the massive decline of foreign exchange earnings of the federal government. A Niger Delta Militant Group, the “NigeriaDelta Avengers” has issued a statement threatening to “take it to” Lagos and Abuja after bombing Chevron platforms in Warri, Delta state.In a statement signed by one Col. Madoch Agninibo, the group threatened to carry out other attacks on oil installations outside the Niger Delta in Abuja and Lagos. “At about 10:40pm on Wednesday the Niger Delta Avengers blew up the Chevron valve platform. More drama as a group known as Concerned Militant Leaders, CML, from the Niger Delta region yesterday gave Fulani herdsmen two weeks to vacate the South-East and the South-South. The warning followed recent attacks by the herdsmen on farmers and villagers in both regions. In a statement by its spokesman, General Ben in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, the group admonished the Federal Government to tell Nigerians who Fulani herdsmen were or the rate of killings and kidnapping of the “so-called herdsmen,” would be unprecedented. Ben said, “After two weeks, starting from today, Tuesday, May 3, we are going to search for Fulani herdsmen. Since Federal Government cannot tell us who they are up till now, we are going to look for them.“The Fulani herdsmen have indirectly challenged us, asking us what can we do. All hell broke loose yesterday after an Hausa man stabbed and killed an Igbo man(2nd pic) in ABA and Igbo boys after seeing this, mobbed and killed two HAUSA men at the spot. The aggrieved mob of Igbo boys then head to the mosque. If not for the intervention of the police, the situation would have degenerate to something else and eye witness said. Meanwhile the Hausa community in Aba is said to have been deserted for fear of attacks by the Igbos.

The Niger Delta Militant group has struck again, blowing major oil installations in Ughelli area of the Chevron Valve Platform in Abiteye, Warri North council area of Delta State. The incident it was gathered occurred at about 10:40pm on Wednesday. Though the company’s Public Affairs Manager, Deji Haastrup could not be reached for comments on the incident, on official of the Department of Security Services, DSS who spoke on anonymity, confirmed the incident adding that the platform was totally destroyed with the use of dynamites. The security source further hinted that the platform is a major connecting point where all other platforms link up and serves as a fulcrum to chevron BOP and the Chevron Tank farm thereby halting all operations of the company in the region. Pandrillus, a conservation organisation based in Nigeria and Cameroun disclosed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo donated a chimpazee named ‘Patience’ to them. The organization, with a location in Calabar, Cross Rivers Stae, are dedicated to promoting the survial of the highly endangered Drill (Mandrillus leucopheus) and providing safe haven for orphaned chimpazees. A bill for a law which prescribes five-year jail term for lecturers who engage in sexual relationship with students was passed for first reading in the Senate on Wednesday. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege (Labour-Delta Central) and co-sponsored by 46 other senators, seeks to completely prohibit any form of sexual relationship between lecturers and their students. Briefing newsmen after plenary, Omo-Agege said that the nation’s institutions of higher learning must be sanitised to rid them of lecturers who saw female students as “prize’’.According to him, when the bill is passed and signed into law, any lecturer found guilty will be liable to a jail term of up to five years but not less than two years with no option of fine. “When passed into law, it makes it a criminal offence for any educator in a university, polytechnic or any other tertiary educational institution to violate or exploit the student-lecturer fiduciary relationship for sexual pl...

The World Bank Doing Business Report 2016 published yesterday May 3rd, has ranked Nigeria as one of the worst places to do business in 2016. According to the report, Nigeria’s ranking for starting business dropped eight places from 131st position in 2015 to 139th this year. The report also stated that getting electricity became more difficult in 2016as electricity supply rating in Nigeria fell from 181st position to 182nd while registering property improved by four places from 185th to 181st, and getting credit/loans became tougher with a seven place drop in ranking from 52nd ranking to 59th.The report also rated Nigeria as the 169 country with ease of doing business as against the 170th position it held last year.
