EFCC - Tompolo To Now Appear In Court

WARRI —FORMER General Officer Commanding, GOC, Movement for the Emanicipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, Government Ekpumupolo, alias Tompolo, yesterday, said he will appear before the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, which issued a bench warrant for his arrest, January 14, but “at the appropriate time.” The bench warrant followed a motion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, which had filed different charges against Tompolo, over allegation of diverting N34 billion belonging to the NigerianMaritime and Safety Agency, NIMASA, to personal use and laundering of N22.6 billion. Efcc Arrests President Jonathan's Ally, Jide Omokore

Ex NIMASA Boss Akpobolokemi Granted N20 million Bail

Justice Raliat Adebiyi of a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere yesterday granted a former Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Akpobolokemi, and four others bail of N20 million each in a N754,740,680 alleged fraud case. Akpobolokemi and six other employees of the agency were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly Stealing N754,740,680 belonging to NIMASA. The 13-count charge LD/2181C/15 filed before Justice Adebiyi bordered on allegations of stealing and forgery. Akpobolokemi was arraigned along side Captain Ezekiel Agaba, Ekene Nwakuche, Governor Amechee Juan, Vincent Udoye, Captain Adegboyega Sahib Olopoenia and a company, Gama Marine Nigeria Limited. Nigeria's Export Of Crude To Rise In March

By Michael Eboh, with Agency report NIGERIA’s crude oil export is set to rise in March, a compilation of loading programmes showed yesterday.This, according to data obtained from Reuters, is coming on the heels of the lifting of force majeure declaredby some oil companies, while it added that the increase was in spite of the fact that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, raised the official selling prices for Nigeria’s crude oil gradesfrom more than 10-year lows, reflecting the stronger market. The report, however, did not state the price at which the NNPC is selling  the crude oil grades. Several key grades, according to the report, were set to increase from the previous  month, including Bonny Light, Bonga, Forcados, Brass River and  Escravos, earlyloading programmes showed. Lassa fever Hits Asaba - Nurses, Patients Flee

Nosa Akenzua – Asaba Tension over Lassa fever outbreak has continued to unsettled patients at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba following the death of two patients within four days. While many of the patients and nurses have fled the hospital for fear of the unknown, no fewer than over 55 persons have been reportedly killed across the country in the last few weeks of its outbreak. Investigation revealed that it took the efforts of the Health workers at the FMC to remove the bodies of the two patients reportedly said to have died of the diseases. Attacks on oil installations in Delta State entered the third day, yesterday, as militants blew-up major crude oil and gas pipelines to the Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, Tank Farm in Warri South West Local Government Area of the state. Blown up on Friday night was the main crude line from Makaraba through Otunana and Abiteye to Escravos while Olero to Escravos gas line was attacked in the early hours of yesterday. Earlier on Thursday, the Escravos – Warri – Abuja – Lagos pipelines came under attack. The Itsekiri raised the alarm, yesterday, that the attacks could metamorphose into another Ijaw- Itsekiri war.
