More arrests are on the way in the probe of the huge cash some oil companies pumped into the failed bid to change the2015 presidential election results. Some of the cash has been recovered. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested some bankers. It plans to haul in some oil barons who contributed $115m (N23, 299,705,000billion) to bribe some Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials. The officials were to alter the results of the election in which President Muhammadu Buhari, the tehn candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) beat then incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan. The owner of an oil company, Leno Olaitan Adesanya, yesterday reported at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja for interrogation. President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said that it was a matter of great concern to him that nearly two-thirds of states of the federation are still having difficulties with salary payments despite the bail-out funds provided to them by the Federal Government. Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has lashed out at the presidency for its seeming inability to rein in the violent activities of herdsmen across the country. When Teebillz shared his suicide note this morning on IG while pouring his heart out about the demise of his marriage to Tiwa Savage, many of us thought/hoped he was just talking, but he wasn't. Tunji 'Teebillz' Balogun tried to commit suicide this morning by jumping off the Lekki- Ikoyi toll bridge and this is fact! The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, and some officials for allegedly receiving$115m from a former Minister of PetroleumResources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.The EFCC also arrested the bank’s Head ofOperations, Mr. Martins Izuogbe, for his role in the alleged scam, which the anti-graft agency described as unprecedented. Neighbours of an Orlando, Florida deputy saw flames and realized that her house was on fire at about 11pm on Monday, they quickly called 911 and rushed to help her, her husband, their two children. One of the neighbors, Mr Dover, was able to break through all the front windows of the home and rescue the Seminole County sheriff's deputy. Fortunately, Firefighters responded to the fire around 11:20 p.m. and were able to pull her husband from the home but because of the thickness of the smoke,  they couldn't find the couple's 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter who were still trapped in the house. A man sacrificed his life to save his wife from their burning car. According to Wuxi TV Station,  the couple’s minivan immediately went up in flames after it collided with a car on the streets of eastern China’s Wuxi city, Jiangsu Province. The man, who is believed to be in his 50s, pushed his wife out of the car to safety as he remained stuck inside. It is reported the driver’s seat damaged from the collision Unfortunately, by the time the firefighters arrived, it was too late. A former Senior Special Assistant on Media to Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The suspect, Abnedgo Don- Evarada, was arrested on Monday April 25th in Port- Harcourt, Rivers State for offering a bribeof N10million to the EFCC’s Zonal Head in Port-Harcourt, Mr Ishaq Salihu. Don-Evarada ran into trouble when he approached Salihu, over a case involving the Senior Special Assistant to the Bayelsa’s state governor on Millennium Development Goals, Apere Embelakpo and his wife, Fiene Beauty. Embelakpo is being investigated for alleged diversion of N800million, being funds meant for the Millennium Development Goals, MDG, while his wife is being investigated for alleged money laundering, forgery and suspicious transactions to the tune of N200million. Some solders in Festac have shot at and brutalised a motorist for having an argument with a soldier over the right of way. The soldiers numbering about four reportedly chased the motorist identified barrister Olajide Sipe, from 23 road Mobile Petrol station, shooting and at his vehicle in the process. They thereafter dragged the helpless victim out of the car and beat him thoroughly with stones and sticks. Concerned by untold suffering as well as hazard emanating from the activities of black marketers, especially those who sell petroleum products inside plastic containers/jerry-cans, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, has directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and FCT/State Commands Commissioners of Police to arrest anybody found selling petrol and other petroleum products in plastic container. The IGP, who issued the directives in Abuja on Monday, April 25, said apart from the hardship this act is causing to fuel buyers, it has also rendered some innocent and law abiding citizens homeless due to fire outbreak from jerry-can petrol storage. He noted that fuel products such as petrol are highly flammable and if not stored and handled properly, can seriously endanger people, property and the environment.
