APC Stages Violent Protest In Akwa Ibom Over Election Results (Photos)

Members of the All Progressives
Congress have staged a violent protest
in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital as
defeat looms for the party in the just
concluded governorship and state house
elections which held on Saturday, April
11, 2015.
The protest began at about 10 am on
Sunday, April 11, 2014 and later went
into a full blown riot with heavy
gunshots being heard around the Uyo
metropolis.
An eyewitness who spoke with The Trent
confirming the incident said: “There is a
riot going on in Uyo with gunshots
everywhere.
“We were in church service when we
began to hear the gunshots. As the
gunshots became heavier and more
intense, the pastor had to dismiss the
service and everyone rushed home to
safety.”
The APC members are protesting their
loss at the polls even though the
Independent National Electoral
Commission, INEC, is yet to announce
official results for the governorship
elections.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel is
projected to beat the APC candidate,
Umana Okon Umana in the keenly
contested polls.
Another eyewitness who spoke with The
Trent said that men from the Police force
have taken control of the situation.
